If you’re going to build a mega resort right smack in the middle of a major city, you have to worry about parking – but that’s an easy problem to solve if you have money to spend.
Genting, the Malasyan-based group that bought the Miami Herald building and site to build a resort/casino, has plenty of cash, and recently spent $29.4 million to acquire 3.6 acres of mostly vacant land west of Biscayne Boulevard in the Omni District, the Daily Business Review reports. The group used affiliates to buy parcels of land on Biscayne Boulevard between 15th and 16th streets and between Miami Place and First Avenue on Aug. 15, according to the DBR. . All together, the lot has 35,500 square feet of continuous space. One of the parcels, a 17,500-square-foot patch of land, was purchased from former Sony Music executive Tommy Mottola.
The Daily Business Review said that some real estate experts speculate the new acquisitions will be used as parking garages for people visiting the group’s mega casino/resort.
